My name is David Binns. I began working out three years ago and while I was able to lose weight, I still lacked tone. I began lifting but only showed very small results after a year. Since I have started training with Armen, I have gained about 8 lbs of muscle in a short 3 months. I have more energy, better stamina, and my workout regimen has improved as well to be more rounded. These are things that I tried to do myself by reading books on the subject but that I am now convinced only comes with years experience and an extended education in training. These are both things that Armen possesses and has used to guide me to very favorable results. Using his advice I have improved my diet, and focused on foods that help burn fat and build muscle. My workouts have reached new levels with him pushing me to attain the best results. Armen has also helped me to create a workout schedule for the whole week, not just at personal training. I would recommend personal training to anyone who wants fast results that last.

Prevention, Still the Best Medicine

If you want to stay healthy, screening tests are essential. Here are screening tests every adult should get.

You’ve heard that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. And it’s true. Your odds of successful treatment and survival are a lot higher when disease is detected in its earliest stages. Screening tests are meant to do just that. When abnormalities are detected, further testing helps determine if disease is indeed present. If it is, you can take steps to treat the condition.

When symptoms are absent, it’s easy to go about life and forget about recommended screening tests. However, doing this can allow a minor problem to grow into something dangerous or even life-threatening.

If you don’t have a screening routine, talk with your doctor about the screening tests you should have and when you should have them. The timing and frequency of tests depends on your age, medical history, and current health. While there are specific tests for males and females, here are several screening tests all adults should have.

Diabetes or Prediabetes

Testing for diabetes and prediabetes should start at age 45. Every three years after that, you’ll want to get retested. Those who are overweight or have other risk factors should be screened sooner and more often.

Diabetes screenings all involve blood draws. Your doctor may order an A1C blood test, a glucose tolerance test, a fasting blood sugar test, or a random blood sugar test. Moderately high blood sugar results may indicate prediabetes. This condition indicates you’re on the road to diabetes. With diet and exercise, however, you can change the course of your health and keep yourself from diabetes in the future.


Some cholesterol is needed for good health, and your liver produces enough on its own. You can also get cholesterol from the foods you eat. As you know, high cholesterol puts you at risk for heart disease, heart attack, and stroke.

A blood test called a cholesterol screening lipid panel is used to measure your cholesterol levels. Cholesterol screenings are recommended for adults starting at age 20. Once you have your first test, you’ll want to repeat it every five years.

Get a high reading? Take steps to lower your numbers and protect your health. Lifestyle changes have a big impact on your cholesterol. Lose weight, eat a healthy diet, get regular exercise, and stop smoking. When these steps aren’t enough, you may benefit from cholesterol-lowering medication.

Colorectal Cancer

Colon cancer is the third-leading cause of cancer-related deaths. One reason it is so dangerous is because it often causes no symptoms in its earliest stages. Regular colonoscopy can catch colon cancer before symptoms arise.

Currently, it’s recommended that men and women undergo colonoscopy every ten years starting at the age 50. Those at increased risk may require earlier or more frequent screenings.

During a colonoscopy, a thin, flexible tube is inserted into the rectum. A tiny video camera on the end of the tube allows your doctor to view the colon. If abnormal tissue is found, it can be removed for further study.

If the thought of a traditional colonoscopy scares you, take heart. There are other screening options available. Talk with your doctor about what’s best for you.


Commonly known as high blood pressure, hypertension puts you at risk for heart disease and stroke, two leading causes of death. Like so many deadly diseases, you can go years without knowing you have high blood pressure.

To prevent this, have your blood pressure taken every year. Simple, non-invasive tests are done manually or digitally. Once you know if you have high blood pressure, take the necessary steps to bring it down to healthy levels. Your doctor may recommend a low-sodium diet, regular exercise, and weight loss. When lifestyle changes don’t do the trick, medication may be prescribed.
