My name is David Binns. I began working out three years ago and while I was able to lose weight, I still lacked tone. I began lifting but only showed very small results after a year. Since I have started training with Armen, I have gained about 8 lbs of muscle in a short 3 months. I have more energy, better stamina, and my workout regimen has improved as well to be more rounded. These are things that I tried to do myself by reading books on the subject but that I am now convinced only comes with years experience and an extended education in training. These are both things that Armen possesses and has used to guide me to very favorable results. Using his advice I have improved my diet, and focused on foods that help burn fat and build muscle. My workouts have reached new levels with him pushing me to attain the best results. Armen has also helped me to create a workout schedule for the whole week, not just at personal training. Giving Seasonal Allergies the Beat Down

How to punch your sneezes and itches in the jugular.

Seasonal allergies can strike at almost any time of year. In the spring it’s tree pollen. In the summer it’s grass. And in the fall it’s weed pollen and mold.

Your body doesn’t recognize pollen and mold spores as friendly, so it triggers an immune response to fight against the supposed invaders. Unfortunately, you know the symptoms all too well: runny nose; sneezing; and itchy eyes, nose, and throat. Some people suffer from hay fever during just one season, others during all three.

If seasonal allergies are negatively affecting your quality of life, here’s what you can do to minimize your symptoms.

Know Your Allergens

What triggers your allergic reaction? What is it in the environment that causes your immune system to go haywire? If you’re able to narrow down what you’re allergic to, then you’ll better be able to avoid it and treat your symptoms.

If you experience hay fever every year or several times a year, it may be time to visit an allergist—a specially trained physician who specializes in treating allergies. Through skin tests and/or a blood test, the allergist will be able to determine what pollen your are allergic to and what time of year you can expect to suffer from an allergic reaction.

Allergists can also prescribe medications or recommend over-the-counter medications to provide relief for the season. These are available in nasal sprays, oral antihistamines, eye drops, or nasal irrigation.

If necessary, allergy shots are an option, especially for kids. Allergy shots are given over a long period of time (usually three to five years). The shots inject the actual allergen in increasing amounts and have the potential of slowly helping your body develop a proper immune response.

Eventually, your symptoms will likely lessen and you’ll become less dependent on medications. But as you no, shots are no fun so should be a last resort.

Limit Your Exposure

Knowing your pollen and mold allergy triggers can help you develop a plan to avoid them. Try the following steps to reduce your exposure and hopefully ease your symptoms.

Whenever possible, stay inside when pollen counts are predicted to be high, during the early to mid morning when the pollen is most active, or when it’s windy and pollen is in the air. If you must go outside, wear a protective pollen facemask. When you come back inside your house after being outdoors or at the end of the day before getting into bed, wash your hair and change your clothes so that pollen spores stay out of your house and bed.

Keep your house and car windows closed. That means no more window fans to bring in cool air when pollen counts are high. Instead, use air conditioning to cool off. Buy high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters for your air conditioner return vents. These filters are more efficient at trapping pollen spores and keeping them from circulating in your home. You should also change your filters regularly.

If you’re normally responsible for maintaining your yard, it’s time to give the kids some new chores. Avoid yard work such as raking the leaves or mowing the grass as these activities only stir up the pollen or mold and overexposes you to allergens.

Don’t hang clean laundry on a clothesline to dry. And beware that if you have an indoor-outdoor pet, this sweet animal may carry pollen into your house on its fur. Wash your pet and you’ll go a long way toward keeping allergens out of your home.

If you can, get out of town during the season your allergies are at their worst and visit an area of the country with lower pollen counts. Heading to the coast is usually a safe bet.

Lastly, it’s a strange phenomenon, but certain foods may actually worsen your allergic response to fall seasonal allergens. During your allergy-ridden time of year, you may want to avoid eating melons, cucumbers, bananas, chamomile tea, zucchini, and sunflower seeds.
