Finish Fit boot camp has demonstrated to me that I am VERY capable of pushing my body to its limits. Prior to starting the class I was nervous because it had been a really long time since I had been physically active. With Finish Fit I am now 5 pounds away from my pre-baby weight, something I had been trying to lose for two years! Thanks Lauren, Brett and Armen for helping me lose 10 pounds in four weeks!

David Binns
My name is David Binns. I began working out three years ago and while I was able to lose weight, I still lacked tone. I began lifting but only showed very small results after a year. Since I have started training with Armen, I have gained about 8 lbs of muscle in a short 3 months. I have more energy, better stamina, and my workout regimen has improved as well to be more rounded. These are things that I tried to do myself by reading books on the subject but that I am now convinced only comes with years experience and an extended education in training. These are both things that Armen possesses and has used to guide me to very favorable results. Using his advice I have improved my diet, and focused on foods that help burn fat and build muscle. My workouts have reached new levels with him pushing me to attain the best results. Armen has also helped me to create a workout schedule for the whole week, not just at personal training. I would recommend personal training to anyone who wants fast results that last.

Why Lose Weight?

It's not just about looking good.

Carrying around extra weight takes a hefty toll on your body. However, losing just 5 to 10 percent of your excess body weight can drastically improve your current and long-term health. Weigh 200 pounds when you should weigh 150? Your initial weight-loss goal should be to lose no less than 10 pounds.

This may or may not seem like a lot to you, but in terms of your health it makes a huge difference. In fact, those first few pounds may be the key to turning your health around.

What benefits will you gain by losing weight? Are they enough to get you motivated?

Health Benefits Associated with Weight Loss

Since obesity places you at an increased risk for developing a multitude of diseases and health conditions, common sense would tell you that losing weight drops your risk. And this has proven to be the case. It’s been estimated that up to 90 percent of diabetes cases, 80 percent of all heart diseases, and more than half of all cancers could be prevented if everyone was a normal weight and led a healthy lifestyle.

To start, consider your heart. It’s a muscle about the size of your fist, but it works nonstop to pump blood throughout your body. The larger your body, the harder your heart has to work to pump blood to your extremities. This puts you on the road to heart disease, stroke, angina, or heart attack. Lose some extra pounds and you’ll decrease your blood pressure, lower your cholesterol, lower your triglycerides, and improve the health of your circulatory system. Dedicate yourself to a healthlier lifestyle, and weight loss may be all you need to go off your blood pressure or cholesterol-lowering medications.

Losing excess weight can also prevent or even reverse the onset of type 2 diabetes. If you’ve already been diagnosed with diabetes, weight loss can prolong your life and help you live a better life. It does this by lowering your blood sugar levels and lessening the amount of medication needed to control your blood sugar levels.

Need more motivation to lose weight? Obesity is also associated with certain cancers. Dropping pounds through diet, exercise, and healthy lifestyle choices to drastically reduce your risk for many types of cancers including colon, kidney, breast, pancreas, and esophageal.

As if the daytime problems weren’t enough, many overweight people suffer from sleep problems and sleep apnea. Excess weight, especially around the neck or upper body, leads to sleep disorders related to breathing. Because of this, sleep disorders and obesity feed off of one another. When you don’t sleep well, you’re tired during the day and have less energy to exercise or diet. You’re also more likely to make poor dietary decisions, and getting poor or insufficient sleep affects your metabolism and hormones.

It’s Worth the Effort

The health benefits listed above and more can be yours. But what will it take? Increase your physical activity and eat a diet full of fruits, veggies, whole grains, low-fat dairy, fish, lean meats, beans, and nuts. Start by making small changes that you can stick with. Aim to lose 10 percent of your weight in six months. After those six months, see and feel your health improvements. You’ll be glad you did it.
